Hundreds of millions of dollars in Permanent Fund Dividends arrived in Alaskans’ bank accounts Thursday, with paper checks arriving in Juneau mailboxes today and elsewhere shortly thereafter.

While much of those $1,174 payments will be spent in stores around Alaska in the very near future, some is already spoken for.

Charity gets record haul from PFD as 3.4 percent of Alaskans contribute

Alaskans dug deeper into their Permanent Fund dividend checks than ever this year, and the biggest winners in the “Pick. Click. Give.” program included public radio, homeless shelters, animal rescue groups and Planned Parenthood.

Nearly 19,000 of 648,000 Alaskans receiving PFD checks directed a portion of their $1,174 to favored charities. They gave 27,800 gifts -- some donors made multiple donations --  totaling $1.57 million.

The giving outpaces the program's first two years combined by $100,000.

Rasmuson Foundation wins award for Pick. Click. Give.

Rasmuson Foundation was named the Wilmer Shields Rich Gold Award winner for Public Policy Campaigns by the Council on Foundations (COF). The Foundation was selected based on its work to increase individual giving in Alaska through Pick. Click. Give., which allows individual Alaskans to share their Permanent Fund Dividend with Alaska nonprofits. Awards for Public Policy Campaigns are bestowed once every two years.  [Read More... ]

Milestones and News for Pick. Click. Give.

KTUUThere have been a lot things happening with Pick. Click. Give. lately, namely, the number of donors, pledges and dollars raised through the *2011* Pick. Click. Give campaign have already exceeded the 2010 totals. This couldn't have happened without you!

But just in case you haven't yet filed online for your PFD this year, you have until March 31 to do so.

DID YOU KNOW...

As of Friday, Feb. 3rd, 325,219 Alaskans had applied for their Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) online. Of those, 11,855 individuals have made 17,332 pledges for a total of $928,700.

This time last year, 330,953 had applied, with 5,593 individuals making 8,268 pledges worth $499,675.

In 2010, about 9,500 individuals donated $923,000 during the entire PFD application period. In 2009, 5,500 individuals gave $545,000.  [Read More... ]

Historical Society eligible for Click.Pick.Give. -- from The Alaska Star

The Chugiak-Eagle River Historical Society has become part of the state's popular Pick.Click.Give. program for 2011. Anyone receiving a Permanent Fund Dividend can choose to donate a portion of their fund to the Society, which is a nonprofit organization.

To help support the local organization, which preserves Chugiak-Eagle River's history, go to the Alaska State PFD Web site and click on "Gift of Giving." Search by region, "Statewide," and then search for organization, "Chugiak-Eagle River Historical Society."

Choose the amount of your donation and enter your contact information so donations can be acknowledged.
