About Us
The Alaska Botanical Garden is a public garden dedicated to enhancing the beauty and value of plant material through education, preservation, recreation and research.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
The Alaska Botanical Garden is a non-profit supported by donations, memberships, and program fees. (The Garden receives no Municipal, State, or Federal operating funds.) Your contributions have a significant impact on the Garden’s ability to operate and achieve our mission of horticultural and botanical education, research, preservation, & recreation.

Your donations and membership fees help ABG to...

Grow and Nurture the Garden: Help to build new gardens and master plan elements, maintain existing gardens & trails, and expand research & preservation efforts.

Offer a Peaceful Sanctuary for Outdoor Recreation & Wellness Activities: The ABG nature trails are a great place to walk, hike, “botanize”, birdwatch, snowshoe, ski, or simply appreciate nature, year-round. The Garden is also a popular venue for horticultural therapy, retreats, and community work service.

Provide Education for Children and Adults: School field trips, Junior Master Gardener Program, our Annual Spring Garden Conference, tours, interpretive signs, workshops, lectures all expand knowledge and appreciation of plants, ecology, and forest stewardship. The Garden also hosts workforce development training for youth and adults, and raises public awareness about the Plant-a-Row-for-the-Hungry Program (all vegetables and fruits grown in Garden exhibits are donated to the Food Bank of Alaska and Beans Cafe / The Children's Lunchbox).

Provide Important Habitat for Alaska’s Boreal Forest Flora & Fauna: From delicate orchids, native plants & fungi, to spawning salmon, mammals and birds, the Alaska Botanical Garden is an important slice of preserved Boreal Forest ecosystem on the edge of Alaska’s largest city.
