About Us
Our mission is to be an asset not only to our rescued dogs and puppies, but also to our community. We strive to be advocates for dogs in our community and elsewhere, and to educate the public on responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Alaska Dog & Puppy Rescue (ADPR) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, formed for the purpose of rescuing homeless dogs and puppies. As part of our mission, ADPR rescues dogs throughout Alaska and from various Animal Control facilities. The dogs that we rescue are placed in foster homes, where they are socialized and trained until they are ready to be adopted out to loving, permanent families. In addition, each of our dogs is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and dewormed. Any medical concerns are addressed as well.
The funding that ADPR receives from Pick.Click.Give. is utilized in numerous ways. ADPR is committed to reducing pet overpopulation and therefore sponsors a monthly low cost spay and neuter program in the Mat-Su Valley. In addition, ADPR offers free spay services to the mother of any puppy litter that is released to us. Another of our campaigns, “Pit Stop,” addresses the high number of Pit Bulls found in shelters around the state. ADPR spays and neuters Pit Bulls, at no cost to the guardian. Our goal is to limit the number of these wonderful dogs that are bred and then unfortunately dumped in Animal Control facilities.
ADPR also educates the community regarding the responsible and humane care of dogs and puppies through public awareness and community outreach. Our volunteers are busy in many schools and at various events, teaching young children to respect and treat dogs kindly. We realize that this philosophy is best fostered in young people.
Another community service that we offer is our “Food 4 Paws” program, which has allowed us to form relationships with other organizations in the area by providing pet food to a local food bank and to Houston Animal Control.
Alaska Dog & Puppy Rescue is honored to have the support of so many Alaskans and it is our intention to continue the important work of rescuing homeless dog. With the help of the Pick. Click. Give. Program, we are well on the way to ending the dog and puppy homelessness in Alaska.
