About Us
Since 1981, Alaska Junior Theater (AJT) is the only private, non-profit organization presenting the highest quality, professional theater from around the world to Alaska's youth and family audience, regardless of socio-economic status. Each year, more than 40,000 students attend a variety of live performances, which share the educational goal of “bringing learning to life.” For many students, Alaska Junior Theater’s school-time presentations are their only exposure to the performing arts.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
The funds from PICK.CLICK.GIVE are used for scholarships to low-income students from Title I schools who may not be introduced to Live Theater otherwise. Alaska Junior Theater (AJT) awards over 1,800 full scholarships to needy students each year; but teacher have need for many more that we cannot accommodate. Your donations help us to make sure no child is left behind at school while their class attends World-Class Professional Performances.
Anchorage School District Superintendent Dr. Deena Bishop said recently, "Alaska Junior Theater’s offerings are considered a true supplement and enhancement to our reading, language arts, social studies, and fine arts curriculum for elementary, middle and high school teachers. The plays inspire our students, and hopefully, will encourage them to participate in other arts activities with their families and friends."
"Exposure to the arts is an imperative for all students (not just artists) so they develop as balanced and creative human beings, good for themselves and good for the country. Being engaged in the arts opens the brain and enables the students to do better in their academic pursuits. It lifts their spirits. " -- Lin Arison, National Young Arts Foundation.
PICK.CLICK.GIVE funds help AJT keep live performing arts accessible to all while providing the best educational and family experience possible. Thank you for your help in keeping AJT's mission thriving.
