We promote animal welfare through spay/neuter programs, community education and animal shelter support.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
We are a grass roots organization, dedicated to improving the lives of our community pets and dependent upon community support to provide for our programs.
The Spay/Neuter Program provides funds to assist with the spay/neuter of dog teams and companion animals. We offer additional help for low income families with pets as well as those on public assistance. All animal shelter adoptions are offered assistance with the cost of spay/neuter. Our new lowered cost spay and neuter clinics for dogs and cats have become a huge success. In 2016 we helped 246 people with the cost of spaying/neutering their cats and dogs at a cost to us of over $27,000.00. Since our beginning, we have assisted owners of over 5,846 dogs and cats with the cost of sterilization. There is help for everyone who needs to have a dog or cat spayed or neutered.
The Shelter fund provides ongoing financial support to the Animal Shelter for the spay/neuter of shelter animals. We also help provide the extras that make a difference in animal comfort and well being. The Buster Program works with dogs at the Homer Animal Shelter, offering a respite from the stress of shelter life while assessing the dog's qualities and providing training.
The Education Committee members teach pet ownership responsibility and bite prevention through demonstrations in the elementary schools and at the Homer Health Fair & Safe Kids Fair.
Homer Animal Friends also purchases and donates books and DVD’s on pet care and training to the Homer Public Library.
Homer Dog Trainers is part of our educational mission, and offers classes to help people learn humane basic training techniques along with dog sports. HDT believes that trained dogs are less likely to be relinquished to shelters.
The Homer Animal Friends Store sells dog and cat food and supplies to help support our programs.
The goal of HAF is to continue to make a difference in the lives of the pets in our community for many years to come. With the help of your donation we will continue to improve the lives of our local pet community. Thank you for reading and check out our webpage at www.homeranimals.com.
