The Homer Foundation is a community foundation, a vehicle through which individuals, businesses, foundations, and organizations are able to make gifts and bequests to benefit Alaska's lower Kenai Peninsula. These assets are invested and prudently managed, and the income used to address a broad spectrum of needs in the community FOREVER. Established in 1991, the HF has distributed over $3 million to enhance the quality of life in the greater Homer area.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Unrestricted gifts such as the PFD Charitable Contribution through Pick.Click.Give. allow the Foundation the most flexibility in meeting changing community needs. Distributions to the community are made through various Homer Foundation grants programs administered by the Homer Foundation, including a non-competitive, year-round immediate response grants program. This means each application is reviewed and funding decisions made based on the need articulated in the request. A review committee, comprised of board members and community members at large, provide due diligence to assure each request has a charitable purpose and complies with tax regulations and Homer Foundation policies. Applicants receive a response within a 30 day time frame, must sign a letter of acceptance and complete final reporting requirements. The HF prides itself on both the simple, straight forward application process, and the level of accountability the process provides. And because our broad reach into the community, unrestricted gifts help us address issues such as health and social services, youth and education, arts and culture, or conservation and environment.
