About Us
The Homer Foundation is a community foundation, a vehicle through which individuals, businesses, foundations, and organizations are able to make gifts and bequests to benefit Alaska's lower Kenai Peninsula. These assets are invested and prudently managed, and the income used to address a broad spectrum of needs in the community FOREVER. Established in 1991, Homer Foundation has distributed over $4 million to enhance the quality of life in its service area. From Ninilchik to Nanwalek, and everywhere in between, we connect generosity to community need every day.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Unrestricted gifts such as the PFD Charitable Contribution through Pick.Click.Give. allow the Foundation the most flexibility in meeting changing community needs. Distributions to the community are made through various Homer Foundation grants programs administered by the Homer Foundation, including a non-competitive, year-round immediate response grants program. This means that each application is reviewed and funding decisions are made based on the need articulated in the request. A review committee, comprised of board members and community members at large, provide due diligence to assure each request has a charitable purpose and complies with tax regulations and Homer Foundation policies. Applicants receive a response within a 30 day timeframe, sign a letter of acceptance, and complete final reporting requirements. The Foundation prides itself on the simple, straightforward application process, and the level of accountability the process provides. And because of our broad reach in the community, unrestricted gifts give us the flexibility to address issues such as health and social services, youth and education, arts and culture, conservation and environment, and more.
