Ilisagvik College Foundation

About Us

Iḷisaġvik College provides quality post-secondary academic, vocational, and technical education in a learning environment that perpetuates and strengthens Inupiat culture, language, values and traditions. It is dedicated to serving its students and developing a well-educated and trained workforce who meet the human resource needs of North Slope employers and the state of Alaska.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

Iḷisaġvik College is the only institution of higher education in the North Slope region, and the only Tribal College in the state. Your gifts help us meet our mission of serving our students and the greater rural Alaskan community!

At Iḷisaġvik, we provide a unique educational experience. Students have the opportunity to study towards an academic degree, a vocational or industrial certification, or towards a greater knowledge of Inupiat culture and traditions. All of our programmings is structured around Inupiaq values and caters to an Indigenous worldview. Small class sizes and a family-like atmosphere create a comfortable stepping stone towards higher education for residents of remote village communities. We provide an excellent faculty-to-student ratio and quality educational offerings.

Iḷisaġvik college offers one Bachelor’s Degree program, 14 Associate Degree programs, 17 Certificate programs, and various endorsements. In 2020-2021, our Workforce Development Department also offered 139 workshops/classes, engaging with 717 students. Tuzzy Consortium Library, which serves Iḷisaġvik as well as the eight village communities across the North Slope, was available to all Iḷisaġvik students, staff, and faculty and provided assistance to those in need throughout the pandemic, whether it was virtually, or through in-person assistance. Due to the pandemic and faculty closure, in-person patron visits to the library dropped significantly during this past year. In 2021, we had 4,478 in-person visits. However, access to virtual resources, such as eBooks increased by almost 30%. The library offered alternative solutions to continue services to the community during the closure: a Book Delivery Program, Curbside Pickup, and appointment services.

Your gifts help ensure that educational opportunities like these continue to be available for residents of rural Alaska! Quyanaqpak for choosing Iḷisaġvik College as your Pick.Click.Give. non-profit.
