Juneau Jazz & Classics believes music allows us to explore the realms of expression and imagination and every individual should have the opportunity to learn music and share in musical experiences. The JJ&C festival brings world-class jazz, blues and classical musicians; to foster a love of music while inspiring and encouraging young musicians; to reach out to audiences of all ages and from all walks of life; offer musical diversity in a variety of locations; and, to attract visitors to Alaska.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Your donation is matched with national, state and local grants to help us reach our goal to raise awareness and appreciation of classical and chamber music, jazz and blues music; to inspire young students, their teachers and the adult musical community by offering them new skills and insights through frequent opportunities to interact with Festival artists; and, to reach and retain new and younger audiences by presenting fresh, creative and highly interactive approaches to engaging audiences through music. JJ&C ticketed events support only about one-third of the education and outreach programs that we offer. Without the support of the private donations, grants and sponsorships we would not be able to offer such extensive education and outreach programs. Juneau’s youth benefit from JJ&C commitment to sending musicians into the schools through assemblies and classroom visits in elementary schools, clinics with bands, orchestras and choirs at both middle schools and both high schools, and workshops open to musicians of all ages and capabilities. In addition to the free concerts, school assemblies and clinics open to everyone, JJ&C provides over 100 free tickets to non-profit service organizations such as REACH, Hospice, Senior Centers, The Pioneer Home, AWARE Shelter and youth organizations. JJ&C has never turned away a youth from any workshop or concert because he or she could not afford to attend. JJ&C subsidizes or provides free lessons, workshops and clinics to underserved youths. Our small full-time staff of two, could not organize and produce such a festival without hundreds of volunteers who share their time and talents. Please join us in supporting a musical future for Juneau and Southeast Alaska.
