The Sitka Local Foods Network's mission is to increase the amount of locally produced and harvested food in the diets of the people of Southeast Alaska.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Pick.Click.Give. funds will be used to support the St. Peter's Fellowship Farm which is a communal garden using sustainable gardening practices and is the primary source of produce for the Sitka Farmers Market (SFM). Second, funds will be used to support the 9th season of the SFM including offering "double up food bucks" up to $20 per market to food stamp participants who shop for eligible foods, for the "Chef to the Market" program and other market best practices that help connect Sitkans to healthy, affordable food. Third, funds will work to "grow" more gardeners and food producers who can direct more produce to the SFM through educational programs that inspire and train home gardeners and small scale growers like the SLFN garden mentor program. Finally, these resources will allow the organization to continue to improve the infrastructure of our vibrant organization through development of plans for staffing, fundraising, communications and programming.
