Sitka Sound Science Center

Sitka Sound Science Center is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to increasing the understanding and awareness of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems of Alaska through education and research. Our vision is to build on Sitka’s legacy and potential as an educational and scientific community.

Our staff are passionate about science and its importance to managing natural resources in Alaska. We partner with entities around the nation, the state, and the community to use funds efficiently and effectively and move scientific ideas forward. Our aquarium and small salmon hatchery are excellent teaching tools. Among other things, we train Alaskans in marine biology, fisheries management, and aquaculture.
