About Us
WISE provides science and environmental education to all age groups, resources for learning, and support for scientific research in Alaska's Copper River Basin.

Our vision is to share the natural world of the Copper River Basin and to provide scientific, environmental education, and research services to all age groups from children to seniors and to instill people with a sense of awe, connectedness, and sacred feeling for the place we live.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Funds are used for our programs which are available to all Copper River area residents. We organize and present Earth Discovery Day and Changing Seasons, outdoor education days for elementary students presented in cooperation with the Copper River School District, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Bureau of Land Management, Ahtna Heritage Foundation, Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Students learn outdoor and environmental stewardship skills.

A yearly series of public scientific lectures bring new research and ideas to local residents.

The Copper River Stewardship Program for teenagers takes a group of teens from the CR Valley and Cordova on a 10 day journey discovering the interconnected ecosystems of the Copper River watershed.

In-Class Science programs give a chance for hands-on learning to elementary students.

Summer camps and programs such as Aquatic Ecology Camp and Day Hikes give families great opportunities to learn and enjoy the outdoors.

Thanks to the support of our members, donors, agency partners, and many volunteers, WISE is able to provide quality outdoor programming and youth mentoring.
