Pulse Dance Company is the resident performing company at Studio Pulse Center for Dance and is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of community enrichment through dance. The Company is dedicated to the creation and performance of innovative new dance works by emerging and accomplished local and international choreographers.
Pulse forges deeper connections between artists and audiences through the presentation, conversation, and education of dance to both new and experienced viewers. Pulse Dance Company blurs the lines between contemporary dance and dance theatre, and provides continued training and performance opportunities for emerging and mature artists. Pulse hosts annual community dance events while creating lively and relevant works utilizing Alaskan talent.
A 12-year track record of critically acclaimed professional and community-oriented productions, classes, and outreach programs has made Pulse Dance Company an integral part of contemporary dance in Alaska. The company presents high-caliber dance created in Alaska, nurtures emerging artists though residency programs, makes dance accessible to all ages and levels through community programming, and hosts free annual movement classes. Since its inception in 2010, the company has been generously supported by the Atwood Foundation, Rasmuson Foundation, The Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Anchorage Mayor's Charity Ball, and forward-thinking supporters of the arts in Alaska.

Pick.Click.Give. impacts every part of Pulse's operations, from rehearsal space to stage rentals, program books to lighting design, performing artist stipends to choreographer commissions, and covers the cost of programs including Bloom, the artist-in-residence program which supports 6 emerging choreographers and their casts annually, the Nutcracker Redux, which makes fun dance accessible to the Anchorage community, and Play with Pulse, which is a free annual dance education series. Every aspect of Pulse's season requires support to facilitate, develop, and market season events.
