About Us
The Alaska Historical Society is an organization of almost 500 people who like Alaska, enjoy history, and want to learn and share information about the state's past. Since the society organized in 1967 members have kept in touch through a quarterly newsletter and annual conference held every fall in a different community. Its journal has been published for 30 years with articles, photo essays, and reviews. The society encourages students, makes awards, and has a special project on canneries.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
PCG funds donated to the Alaska Historical Society have been used to provide Student and Beginning Professional scholarships. The awards help with costs for at least two individual to attend the Alaska Historical Society's annual conference. Each recipient makes a presentation on the research or work they are doing, and gets an opportunity to network. This has helped the students, as well as the Society. This year, the Society has a special initiative to call attention to the need to preserve several of the state's historic salmon canneries and prepare educational materials about them.
