Tomorrow marks the start of a new year, and for Pick.Click.Give. it’s the start of the fifth year Alaskans will use their power to make a difference by sharing some of their Permanent Fund Dividends with causes they care about.
One way Alaskans are choosing to make a difference is in the lives of families who experience disabilities. In “Mark and The Arc,” we take a look at how Alaskans have used Pick.Click.Give. to help provide a home for Mark Falsey.
“Your parenting doesn’t stop with any of your children,” says Mark’s mother, Margaret. “But it really doesn’t stop when you have a child with a disability.”
Parents often struggle to find housing solutions that will work for their adult children who experience disabilities. “At some point you face the reality that we’re not going to be here forever,” Margaret says.
Watch the video to learn how Mark’s family, with the help of Pick.Click.Give. donors and The Arc of Anchorage, were able to find a safe home for him. Mark’s story is just one example of the positive impact Alaskans make in the lives of others when they share just a little of their PFD through Pick.Click.Give.
Alaskans’ generosity has grown as each year passes – a record 23,000 people donated over $2 million to Alaska nonprofits through Pick.Click.Give in 2012. We hope 2013 inspires even more Alaskans to make a big difference by sharing a little of their PFD.
Happy New Year, and don’t forget to Pick.Click.Give when you file for your PFD!
