Filing Period for 2013 Permanent Fund Dividends Opens January 1
ANCHORAGE – December 28, 2012 – Alaskans will soon have more options than ever for sharing their 2013 Permanent Fund Dividend. When the PFD filing period opens January 1, Alaskans will have the ability to use Pick.Click.Give to donate a portion of their dividend with a record 471 Alaska nonprofits.
Nonprofits throughout the state report an increase in the number of Alaskans making contributions through Pick.Click.Give., with many organizations seeing contribution levels double in the past year. Anchorage’s Bean’s Café made history in 2012 by becoming the first nonprofit to receive over $100,000 in Pick.Click.Give. pledges.
“Our research shows Alaskans strongly support organizations that provide services to youth, assist people in emergency situations and provide food and shelter to those in need,” said Pick.Click.Give. Program Manager Heather Beaty. “Alaskans have the power to make a real difference in the causes they care about when they share part of their PFD through Pick.Click.Give.”
The new PickClickGive.org website makes it easy for Alaskans to connect with the causes they care about. Each nonprofit has its own profile page with information about their mission and stories of how Alaskans are making a difference through Pick.Click.Give. Organizations in communities from Barrow to Ketchikan are featured on the new site, making it easy for Alaskans to find a way to give where they live.
Last year, more than 23,000 Alaskans pledged more than $2.2 million through Pick.Click.Give. Currently, only about 4 percent of the people who receive a PFD choose to give through Pick.Click.Give. The Permanent Fund Dividend filing period opens January 1 and runs through March 31.
