During the 2014 PFD filing period Alaskans gave more than ever to charities across Alaska. The average gift has grown to $104, up from $94 in 2013, and donations totaled more than $2.8 million.
“This was the first year Pick.Click.Give offered the Double Your Dividend sweepstakes. It was exciting to see so many Alaskans make the choice to support Alaska nonprofit causes and also have a chance to double their dividends,” said Heather Beaty, Pick.Click.Give. program manager. “We plan to hold this sweepstakes again next year, and we hope it continues to motivate Alaskans to share a little of their PFD with nonprofit organizations throughout the state.”
This year 512 organizations will benefit from Pick.Click.Give. More than 50 of those nonprofits were new to the program and first-time beneficiaries. In 2014, Alaskans gave a record $2.8 million, and more than $10 million has been raised through Pick.Click.Give since the program began in 2009.
