About Us
AWAIC is dedicated to empowering all survivors of domestic violence so they can get back on their feet and begin to thrive again without the daily fear of domestic violence. As the only emergency safe shelter for domestic violence survivors in Anchorage and the surrounding area, AWAIC meets a critical public safety need in our community. We provide a unique service which requires skilled staff trained to assist survivors of domestic violence while keeping their safety and confidentiality a priority.
AWAIC's core services include the 24-hour, 67-bed emergency shelter for adults and children who have been affected by domestic violence and our 24-hour crisis and support line. Other services offered are transitional housing, case management, support and education groups, legal advocacy and more. Our goal is to connect each survivor with the tools and resources they need to take to rebuild their lives. AWAIC also works to prevent future domestic violence through community education and training.

We are grateful for each person who chooses to share a portion of their PFD with AWAIC through Pick.Click.Give. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making AWAIC’s work possible!
