About Us
The Mission of the Friends of Eagle River Nature Center is to further the educational and interpretive opportunities available to park visitors; promote the preservation, protection and enhancement of the historical, natural and recreational resources within the Chugach State Park; provide for the daily operation of the Nature Center; and assist in implementing park improvements, enhance safety awareness and promote educational programs compatible with the mission of the Nature Center.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
All funds received through Pick.Click.Give. donations directly fund the organization's natural science interpretive programs; trail maintenance; and visitor services. Our organization's volunteers and small staff work hard to provide quality programs to our community's pre-schoolers, school-aged children, and adults. We provide scholarships and bus transportation to low income clasrooms to attend our natural science field trips.
We provide community service projects to various groups, including Eagle Scout projects. During the summer months we provide housing to volunteers from across the nation who wish to assist with our mission.
We maintain over 10 miles of trails year round and manage four public use overnight facilities. We groom the trails for backcountry skiing during the winter months. Our presence and informational services help educate people to the potential hazards in the Park. This in turn helps keep down the numbers of possible emergencies or accidents.
