About Us
FISH provides emergency food supplies delivered directly to hungry Anchorage neighbors. When someone calls the FISH aid line, volunteers gather information about family size, children’s ages and special dietary needs. Packers prepare supplies to meet the specific needs of each family and drivers then deliver the food directly to the family the next day. The all volunteer FISH network delivers a short-term supply of food and a sense of hope directly to our neighbors in need with no red-tape, no waiting to qualify and no questions asked.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
F.I.S.H. relies on local food drives for some of our supplies, our partner organizations gather pantry staples throughout the year, and our budget allows for purchases of food to supplement donations to fill our pantry. We seek and appreciate financial support from individuals, companies, foundations and Pick.Click.Give. With an all volunteer organization, FISH has very little overhead so that more than 95% of cash donations go directly to purchasing food supplies. We do one major fundraiser a year that supplies about 50% of our annual food budget. The remaining 50% must come from other sources: individuals, partner organization fund drives, corporate grants and Pick.Click.Give. With the rising cost of groceries along with the rising need for emergency food supplies in our community, FISH faces a financial shortfall. Monies raised through Pick.Click.Give. go directly to purchasing food for our hungry Anchorage neighbors. FISH is able to make bulk purchases to maximize our budget. We work hard to find the best prices we can to provide nutritious meals. For just $15 FISH is able to provide a 3 day supply of food covering 3 meals a day for a family of 4. This year, more than 14,000 people in need received over 120,000 meals — 3000 deliveries throughout Anchorage.
