Girdwood Fine Arts Camp was established in 1986. We endeavor to bring culture and fine art technique instruction to the underserved children in the geographically isolated communities of Girdwood, Indian, Bird Creek, Portage and Hope. The Girdwood Fine Arts Camp runs for two weeks at the end of each summer serving children age 5 through late teens. We bring art instructors known for their ability to educate and inspire, and the subjects and media offered each year are in part suggested by the Arts Campers themselves. As there is over 60% return rate of students to Arts Camp every year, instruction from one year to the next is a continuing process adding more depth and sophistication to the students knowledge.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
We are grateful for the support of parents, local institutions and government agencies which help us to reach our goal of providing the highest quality fine arts instruction. Money from the Pick.Click.Give. is used for student scholarships and to keep the tuition costs for families as low as possible so that children and teens may participate. Pick.Click.Give will also assist in a new program at The Girdwood Fine Arts Camp. We have begun a teen apprenticeship project that will pay former Arts Campers to return to Camp to work with artist instructors by assisting with younger students and collaborating with the artist to create a piece of art work under the direction of the artist.
