Gynecologic cancers claim the lives of thousands of women each year but many are not aware of the signs and symptoms of these cancers. Let Every Woman Know – Alaska is dedicated to raising awareness, sharing information and saving lives through local education of all Alaskans and support for those women living with gynecologic cancers.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Let Every Woman Know – Alaska was formed to promote awareness and education about gynecologic cancers in Alaska and provide support for women with gynecologic cancers in Alaska. Money donated to Let Every Woman Know – Alaska from Pick. Click. Give. will be used to fund programs and projects specifically for Alaskan women including our annual Awareness & Arts of Healing Weekend, our Leading a Healthy Lifestyles Campaign and the EXTRA-TOUGHS program, support groups, retreats and more.
Each February, Let Every Woman Know – Alaska hosts a widely publicized weekend full of events geared towards gynecologic cancer awareness and support for women with gynecologic cancers. This annual Awareness Weekend follows an “Arts of Healing” theme in which Let Every Woman Know – Alaska recognizes the positive effects art has on women coping with cancer and raises awareness through creative arts and community. Weekend events always include a 2 day Foundation for Women's Cancer Course with lectures for both survivors, and the medical community, a First Friday Art Showcase featuring artists whose lives have been touched by cancer, and a Rhythm Heals Concert. Let Every Woman Know has hosted the Awareness & Arts of Healing Weekend for 5 consecutive years so far, selling out all our events, filling the Foundation for Women's Cancer Course to capacity every year, and impacting hundreds of Alaskan's lives.
The Let Every Woman Know Leading a Healthy Lifestyles Campaign is a multifaceted active campaign encouraging all women to make healthy lifestyle choices to reduce their risk of cancer. We host the Alyeska Climbathon as a gynecologic cancer awareness event and offer a program called EXTRA-TOUGHS (Extraordinary Transformation Towards GYN Health & Survivorship); it is Alaska's first women's cancer and obesity intervention program providing an integrative team approach to sustainable weight loss, healthy lifestyle, and survivorship for gynecologic cancer and breast cancer survivors.
Let Every Woman Know offers biweekly support groups for gynecologic cancer survivors, a free annual 3 day retreat for patients with gynecologic cancer and a free 2 day caregiver retreat. We consider these retreats and support groups an integral part of our mission to support women in Alaska who have been diagnosed with gynecologic cancers.
Becoming eligible for Pick.Click.Give. donations will allow Let Every Woman Know to continue and improve these programs for women's health and support in Alaska.
