To provide resources for homeless young people, with a goal of connecting 14-24 year old youth to a network of caring individuals and agencies able to assist them in becoming self-sufficient. At this time there is no emergency shelter in the Valley, (we have an animal shelter but no emergency shelter for youth) so we have a goal of continuing to work toward a variety of housing options, as well as expanding the continuum of services for them.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
We are a hand up for homeless youth, not a hand out, and we are a very different kind of non-profit. MY House does not rely on medicaid or medicare for payment of services, because this would require us to diagnose youth with a medical or psychological condition that may be temporary and due to the conditions around being homeless. Instead we are dependent on community support, grant funding and the income from several for profit businesses that also offer job training and income to homeless youth. We are a hand up and not a hand out, and use the Pick, Click, Give funding to cover operating expenses that are difficult to cover, as well as job training programs in the Cafe and Boutique to be able to pay wages as youth learn job skills and attain experience. We believe that with job training and support, and with access to a variety of services that encourage continued growth, we can help homeless youth become productive and active community members.
