About Us
The Petersburg Humane Association exists to eliminate cruelty and suffering to animals by promoting compassion and kindness toward domestic and companion animals. It is an all-volunteer no-kill organization that works to improve the lives of cats and dogs in and around Petersburg, Alaska, through education, sheltering, and population control assistance (vouchers to help defray the cost of spaying or neutering owned pets).
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
We maintain accommodations to provide no-kill shelter care for homeless cats, foster care for homeless dogs and we provide financial help for those who cannot afford to spay or neuter their pets. Donations will help pay for veterinary care for the animals in our custody and for vouchers to cover much of the cost of spaying and neutering pets owned by people who cannot afford the procedure on their own. They will also help pay for food, litter, heat and light for our sheltered cats, and food and other supplies needed for fostered animals. Anything in excess of our operating needs will go toward the improvements of our existing cat shelter and into our building fund for a future shelter that will accommodate both cats and dogs.
