Polar Pug Rescue & Friends was founded over 10 years ago as a rescue for pug dogs in Alaska. In 2009 we started partnering with our local animal shelter to provide rescue to other small breed dogs. We provide loving foster homes, food, vaccinations, micro-chipping, spay/neuter, and any other medical / veterinary care for every dog in our rescue. We place dogs into adoptive homes that have been screened for compatibility and to ensure the dog will never be homeless again. In 2013 we established the Phoenix Fund, named after our first rescue. The mission of this fund is to reduce euthanasia rates at our local animal control by providing funds for medical needs of dogs in the shelter system.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
All of the funds received by our organization go directly to provide shelter, food, vaccinations, micro-chipping, spay/neuter, and any other medical/veterinary care for dogs in rescue. Each dog, regardless of condition, is seen by a vet. In addition, we partner with our local animal shelter to provide much needed veterinary care in order to reduce the euthanasia rates. We have no paid employees. Volunteers are not compensated for their time. The money goes directly towards our mission and to the dogs in rescue. In addition to fulfilling our rescue mission for pugs and other small breed dogs in rescue, we also partner with our local animal shelter to provide needed medical for dogs that are in the shelter system. We hope that by using these funds to improve the life for each dog, we are setting them up to spend the rest of their lives in life-long homes where they will never be homeless again. We are committed to making a difference to the animal population in our community.
