About Us
The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. In Alaska this mission means protecting some of the healthiest remaining lands and waters in North America. Alaska’s unspoiled rivers, forests, tundra and ocean provide the best hope for survival of beloved species like wild salmon, grizzly bears, wolves, caribou and migrating birds.
The Nature Conservancy in Alaska has an extraordinary opportunity to have a global impact at a local level, to grow this young state in a way that conserves nature and all the benefits it provides. We’re scaling up our efforts to engage communities in stewardship of their lands and waters, creating new opportunities for economic development and using science to ensure that Alaska's natural wealth and vast landscapes remain healthy for future generations.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Alaska is known for its bountiful fish and wildlife, its big, wild landscapes, and abundant natural resources. Here in Alaska, the environment quite literally fuels the economy. But a changing climate, expanding resource development and the world’s growing need for food, water and energy are challenging nature as never before. Your generous donation is helping us find long-term solutions to these challenges.
The ancient forests of the Tongass; the clear, productive streams of Bristol Bay and the Matanuska-Susitna Basin; the vast wilderness of the Arctic — these iconic Alaskan landscapes provide many of Earth’s best opportunities for addressing global issues like climate change and the loss of vital lands and waters. Join us on the front lines as we work for an Alaska where people and nature thrive, together.
