Anchorage, AK – Great news for Alaska nonprofits! Alaskans have once again proven their generosity, setting a record for the average amount donated per person through Pick.Click.Give. to $108, up from a $100 average in 2015. That generosity led to the second highest amount pledged in the programs history.

According to the Alaska Department of Revenue, as of April 1, 29,543 Alaskans donated $3,192,725 from their 2016 PFDs. This was a slight decrease from the record amount of $3,329,575 in 2015.

Overall, 5.5% of Alaskans who filed online for the PFD made donations through Pick.Click.Give. Last year, 6.0% of Alaskans participated in the program.

“We’re thrilled with this year’s donation amount. Alaskans deserve a huge thank you for their willingness to support such great causes,” said Pick.Click.Give. manager Jason Grenn. “This could have been a difficult year for Alaska’s nonprofits because of the uncertainty around the Permanent Fund itself and the economic situation in our state. But in these tough times, it’s inspiring to see Alaskans can be counted on to help their neighbors.”

Pick.Click.Give. allows Alaskans to donate $25 or more from their PFD to one or more of 640 eligible nonprofit organizations from across the state. The top five recipients in 2016 were Bean’s Cafe with $126,025, Alaska Public Media with $116,600, Food Bank of Alaska with $89,550, Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest with $82,675 and Catholic Social Services with $80,175.

“The goal of the Pick.Click.Give. program is to help make charitable giving part of the every Alaskan’s life,” said Nina Kemppel, President and CEO of The Alaska Community Foundation. “Along with our partners, Rasmuson Foundation, The Foraker Group and United Way of Anchorage, we are proud to be helping nonprofits make a positive impact on communities across the state.”

Although the deadline to apply for the 2016 PFD has passed, Alaskans who have already filed can add Pick.Click.Give. donations through August 31, 2016. More information can be found at PickClickGive.org

ALASKANS CAN PICK.CLICK.GIVE. TO A RECORD NUMBER OF NONPROFITS IN 2016

A record 33,421 Alaskans donated to 539 nonprofits in 2015

Anchorage, Alaska – When Alaskans begin filing for their 2016 Permanent Fund dividends, they will have the chance to share part of their PFDs with nonprofits across Alaska. In fact, they’ll have more choices than ever as a record 640 charitable organizations are set to take part in Pick.Click.Give. next year.

“Alaskans have a more choices than ever when they choose to Pick.Click.Give. And with a few simple clicks, they can impact their community when they share part of their PFD through Pick.Click.Give.,” said Pick.Click.Give. manager Jason Grenn. “Each donation makes a real difference to a wide variety of nonprofits across the state.”

The program has grown each year since it began in 2009, increasing in the number of organizations participating, the number of Alaskans donating, and the amount raised each year. Last year, a record 33,421 Alaskans donated almost $3.2 million from their PFDs to 539 nonprofits from around the state. More than $13 million has been raised since 2009.

Pick.Click.Give. was created by the Alaska State Legislature in 2008 with the support of Rasmuson Foundation, The Foraker Group, United Way of Anchorage and other partners. After a three-year pilot project, Pick.Click.Give. became a permanent part of the PFD program. Pick. Click. Give. is managed by The Alaska Community Foundation.

Last year, the “Double Your Dividend Sweepstakes” offered seventeen lucky Alaskans the opportunity to double their dividend and in October, those Alaskans received a second dividend totaling $2,072 – just by choosing to Pick.Click.Give.

The Double Your Dividend Sweepstakes will continue in 2016. It’s another way Pick.Click.Give. encourages Alaskans who may not have participated in the program before, to donate to the nonprofits they care about in a convenient and safe way. Pick.Click.Give. research found that 78 percent of Alaskans have knowledge of the program, but just about five percent of Alaskans donated in 2015.

“With the rise in participation we’ve seen the last few years, we view the promotion as a great way to get even more Alaskans motivated to share a part of their PFD with causes they care about,” said Grenn.

Alaskans have until March 31, 2016, to file for their PFDs.
