American Cancer Society Inc

About Us

The American Cancer Society of Alaska's mission is to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer. We do this by providing free programs and services for Alaskan cancer patients, such as rides to and from appointments and flights and lodging for those requiring treatment far from home, as well as by investing in lifesaving cancer research and educating Alaskans on ways to prevent cancer.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

When you donate to the American Cancer Society of AK through Pick.Click.Give., you're making a significant difference in the lives of many Alaskan cancer patients who are in desperate need of practical assistance, so they no longer have to worry about how to pay for travel costs and other items, and can focus entirely on getting well.

The American Cancer Society of Alaska is committed to serving the 3,700 Alaskans expected to be diagnosed with cancer this year who are in need of critical services to help them get to and through their lifesaving treatment. Our programs and services are available free of charge to all Alaskan cancer patients and their families, and 70% of the patients we serve are low-income, under-insured and currently battling for their lives. Our programs help patients overcome barriers to receiving treatment and include practical, emotional and logistical support, such as:

• Patient Navigators available by phone or video chat to all Alaskan cancer patients free of charge to assist with insurance and financial issues, logistical needs, provide information and answer questions.
• Our Hope Lodge Program, providing a free place to stay in a supportive environment for Alaskan cancer patients requiring treatment in the Lower 48.
• Our Flight Partnership Program, providing free flights for Alaskan cancer patients who are required to travel to receive treatment.
• Our Road to Recovery program, providing free rides to and from treatments for cancer patients who don't have a ride or are unable to drive themselves.
• Numerous emotional support services free of charge to all Alaskan cancer patients.

Please call our 24/7 helpline at 1-800-227-2345 if you or a loved one are in need of any of these resources.
