Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

Donations to the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council (KAAHC) through Pick.Click.Give., help support the many programs and events of Ketchikan’s local non-profit Arts and Humanities Council. KAAHC’s mission to create and promote artistic experiences and the exploration of the humanities includes advocacy, education, creation, promotion, mentoring and sometimes just getting out of the way and letting Ketchikan’s inherently creative spirit blossom!

Annual programming such as the Blueberry Arts Festival, the Winter Arts Faire, the Main Street Gallery and two annual city-wide Art Walks are the more visible programs of KAAHC in Ketchikan. All of these programs feature the fine artists of our community, and also serve as incubators for small businesses, providing artists the opportunity to experiment with their artistic product, pricing, inventory and marketing.

Ketchikan’s annual Wearable Art Show, a program of KAAHC, is an example of the arts and artists of Ketchikan blossoming. The event is a community favorite which began in 1986 and has been growing ever since. Ketchikan’s Wearable artists continue to raise the bar for each other and artists across the state!

Over the past two years KAAHC has continued to create programming for the community in spite of the pandemic. When gathering was impossible, we created online programming that community members could experience with their families and friend-pods. When we could gather in small groups, KAAHC presented art openings and more expanded online experiences. When we could begin gathering outside, KAAHC created outdoor events, including artwalks, a re-envisioned Blueberry Arts Festival, and a complete re-make of our iconic Wearable Art Show, with a Wearable Art Walk, and a Wearable Fun Run. When we had to respond to spikes in Covid infections we quickly created online options for people to experience events, arts, and community. Now, as we begin to learn how to live with Covid, KAAHC is moving to large events that require either proof of vaccination or negative tests, similar to ongoing successful arts events in the lower 48.

Thank you for your support of the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council and the arts in Ketchikan!!!
