About Us
As the Alaska chapter of Ladies' Oriental Shrine of North America, Inc., our primary goal is supporting Shriners Hospitals in providing orthopedic, burns, & cleft lip & palate care to children through age 18 at no cost to their parents. This includes financial support for the patient transportation fund, the semi-annual outreach clinics held in Anchorage for children throughout Alaska, and specific research, program, and equipment needs for the hospitals such as the MAGEC rod for scoliosis treatment and tissue banks for burn patients. We also donate funds to local charities who support children such as Children's Lunchbox, Kids' Kitchen, AWAIC, and Salvation Army.

Your donation will help hundreds of Alaskan children who receive care at Shriners hospitals through assisting with their travel to Anchorage for outreach clinics twice a year and to Shrine Hospitals in the Lower 48 for care along with helping make sure we can continue to bring teams of doctors and nurses from the Portland Shrine Hospital to Anchorage to hold the outreach clinics. It will help strengthen programs to assist Shrine patients - including Alaskan children - such as the Augmentative and Alternative Communication program for patients with speech needs, recreational programs for patients with orthopedic issues, and transition programs for patients aging out of the Shrine Hospital System, and tissue banks and counseling for burn patients and their families. You will help us purchase needed medical equipment such as MAGEC rods, a less invasive treatment for scoliosis. Your gift also helps us support ongoing research in treatment for severe burns and orthopedic needs for children and teens, research that is shared with all.
