About Us
When police or child protective services believe a child is being abused, the child is brought to the CAC—a safe, child-focused environment—by a caregiver or other “safe” adult. At the CAC, the child tells their story once to a trained interviewer who knows the right questions to ask in a way that does not retraumatize the child.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
The Childrens Place is a child advocacy center and is part of the only multi-disciplinary team in the Mat-Su area that addresses reports of child sexual abuse, physical abuse and other forms of child maltreatment. We provide a safe and comfortable, child-friendly, neutral facility where the child and protective caregiver come to receive an evaluation and begin the investigation process.
When there is a report of harm to a child, the child and his or her protective caregiver come to The Childrens Place for a comprehensive evaluation, including: a child-friendly and legally-sound forensic interview; a specialized and non-traumatic medical exam; referral and linkage to appropriate mental health services for the child and family.
56% of our funding sources are from state and local grants and earned revenue; 44% of our funding is from contributions from community business and individuals. Contributions received through the Pick. Click. Give. Program will be used to provide services for children and families who are seen at The Childrens Place. We are currently underfunded, meaning now, more than ever, we need your support to fully fund our operating budget.
We sincerely thank you for your donation and want you to know that your contribution is helping a child begin their healing process. You are truly making a positive difference in their life- at a very critical time and through a very traumatic event and we are so grateful for your generosity and thoughtfulness.
