About Us
Founded in 1972, the Alaska Humanities Forum is Alaska's Humanities Council under the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and one of 56 state and territorial groups. The Forum delivers high-quality programs, grants, and projects that use the humanities to connect Alaskans through stories, ideas, and experiences that positively change lives and empower communities. Our vision is a culturally diverse, economically vibrant and equitable Alaska where people are engaged, informed, and connected.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
For over 40 years, the Forum has been connecting Alaskans through stories, ideas, and experiences. Your gift makes it possible for us to:

• support grassroots humanities projects across Alaska
• develop local leaders
• prepare youth and educators through cultural experiences
• build bridges of understanding between Alaska’s urban and rural peoples
• research, preserve, celebrate, and share Alaska's rich history and cultural traditions
• strengthen the foundations of civil society in Alaska
• convene partners for projects and programs that sustain communities across our state

The Forum has responsibly managed more than $20 million dollars of federal funds and tens of thousands of dollars of state and local government funds, as well as private donations. We must match every dollar received in federal funding with support from partner organizations, foundations, corporations, and individual donors.

We are grateful for your support and your commitment to enriching the lives of Alaskans. Thank you for investing in the Alaska Humanities Forum.
