Founded in 2000, Calypso Farm and Ecology Center’s mission is to promote local agriculture and environmental awareness through hands-on education in natural and farming ecosystems. We do this through a variety of educational programs – for young and old – both on the farm and in the community. In all of our programs, we strive to increase access to and awareness of the benefits of purchasing and eating local foods.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
In 2016, Calypso received $4,675 dollars from the Pick.Click.Give. donations of 78 Alaskans. The funds we received in past years have been used to support our School Garden Initiative and on-farm educational programming for community members of all ages. As a small non-profit, every contribution from Pick.Click.Give. makes an impact!
In 2017, funds received through Pick.Click.Give. will not only support these diverse educational programs, but will help us promote food justice in Fairbanks through the Southside Community Farmer’s Market, which began in 2015. Your donation helps us hire school garden staff to maintain the gardens and lead summer camps, develop curriculum for teachers, keep program tuition costs low and offer summer camp scholarships for students in need of financial assistance. In addition, Pick.Click.Give. donations will support our ability to double food stamp values at the Southside Community Farmer’s market, helping to make fresh food more accessible in downtown Fairbanks.
We truly appreciate how this program connects people with the causes they care about, promoting generosity and gratitude in the community. Please consider donating a portion of your 2017 PFD, and help us grow and sustain our education and agriculture programs. Thank You!
