Glacier City Radio KEUL

KEUL is supported by the Girdwood Community Club, providing 365 days of programming each year, broadcasting to 7 communities. Our cornerstone is eclectic music, with educational, science, social, economic issues, and Youth in Radio. KEUL provides a public safety net with emergency notifications for residents, visitors and travelers. Girdwood K-8 School collaborates with KEUL, involving students in educational events. Glacier City Radio, KEUL 88.9 FM is a part of the 68-year-old, Girdwood Community Club and is located in the heart of Girdwood serving 7 communities: Girdwood, Bird Creek, Rainbow, Portage, Indian, Hope and Sunrise. The station receives partial funding from the club and private donations. It does not receive federal or state tax dollars. KEUL provides free or inexpensive services to all community members.
Your generous support will allow KEUL to access additional resources and plan for long-term growth and sustainability. KEUL appreciates your support in free form, cutting-edge radio for the Turnagain Arm community. Your donation provides an outlet for the creativity and energy of the community, while providing for public safety, education and information.

Our goal is to increase revenue to purchase materials, equipment and permits necessary to maintain the station and its transmitter location. Glacier City Radio operates from our building in downtown Girdwood, with the transmitter on Mt. Alyeska. KEUL is a member-supported, non-profit station, and a critical conduit of information and entertainment to Turnagain Arm residents and visitors. A distinct advantage of KEUL is the virtually immediate information from and about residents and emergency services. No other municipal service or broadcaster provides such local support.

Around 25 people donate over 5000 volunteer hours to support the station. There are no paid positions so 100% of your donation will go to supporting KEUL. This is a high-value return for your donation.
Our signal is geographically isolated to Turnagain Arm which allows us to focus our programming on our communities. Localism improves the quality-of-life and provides a safety net, transmitting emergency notifications for residents.
The founding volunteers of the station purchased much of the original equipment and after years of broadcasting 365 days-a-year is now in need of replacement. One of the station’s immediate goals is to purchase equipment to update the existing gear, now over a decade old, which will improve the audio and programming quality.
