SCDI empowers Youth, Minorities and the Disadvantaged. SCDI’s mission is to eliminate significant disparities in health care, economics, education and the criminal justice system. SCDI enhances the quality of life of those less fortunate by providing transitional assistance; economical, educational opportunities; job search support; health education, prevention, wellness programs; and youth mentorship.

Please Pick Click Give and choose SCDI to help support and promote further developing of SCDI's programs such as SCDI’s “Far North –My Sister’s Keeper Mentorship Program,” a comprehensive mentorship program geared especially for young girls and women of color and our Young Lions “My Brother’s Keeper” Mentorship Program,” a comprehensive mentorship program geared especially for young boys and men of color during the conference. Both programs address persistent opportunity gaps in the areas of education, finance, economics, criminal justice and health and tear down barriers that too often prevent minority youth and other young people from realizing their potential.
SCDI is further organized for: Relief of the poor, the distressed, or the underprivileged; Advancement of education or science; Lessening of neighborhood tensions; Elimination of prejudice and discrimination; Defense of human and civil rights secured by law; and Combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency. SCDI's Executive Director (Celeste Graham Hodge) was the former president of the Anchorage National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for nearly a decade and the former Outreach Liaison/Director of the Municipality of Anchorage, Office of Equal Opportunity for over seven years, she recognizes these are still pivotal times and is dedicated to helping Alaskans move forward.
