The Alaska Development Corporation (ADC) promotes sound and sustainable economic growth and diversification in Alaska. ADC is dedicated to providing information, education, and programs of assistance for businesses, agencies, students and the public. ADC is a statewide organization affiliated with the Juneau Economic Development Council (JEDC) and STEM AK.

Your donations will help ADC fund STEM educational efforts throughout Alaska, including FIRST Robotics. STEM education is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, skills which are critical to economic growth & job opportunities. Of the top 20 fastest growing careers in the next decade, 15 will require significant science or math competencies. By 2018 Alaska is projecting a swell of STEM-related jobs but in 2012, 52% of Alaska students taking the ACT test did not meet college-readiness benchmarks in math and 70% did not meet benchmarks in science. STEM workers in Alaska earn an average of $73,000 a year, $28,000 more per year on average than non-STEM workers. We need to continue to prepare our workforce to sustain our productive industries, give our best jobs to Alaskans & prepare our children to seize opportunities worldwide. ADC supports STEM Education throughout Alaska through outreach, education and advocacy. Our work is guided by a commitment to hands-on, engaged learning that links students to real world opportunities and challenges in an environment of high expectations and discovery. Our programs include: - FIRST Robotics—now in over 25 school districts throughout Alaska which has among the highest per capita participations rates and highest participation rates among girls in elementary and middle school in the nation. - Professional Development - Includes Engineering is Elementary, bringing engineering (problem solving) skills to the classroom at a very young age, training for robotics coaches, and more. - Summer STEM Camps—partnering with others to design and implement fun and engaging learning opportunities Contributions to ADC will primarily allow more students to engage in STEM enrichment activities and allow us to provide consistent and high quality programming. ADC also supports other statewide economic development initiatives.
