Alaska Humane Society

About Us

The Alaska Humane Society's mission has always been the committment to provide a safe shelter and medical attention to any abandoned, rescued or surrendered cat that comes in to us.
We are are no kill cat shelter and any cat that comes in to us are with us forever until they find another forever home via adoption.
All of our cats are spade/neutered, tested for leukemia, updated with all shots, microchipped and treated for anything else they might need to be treated with.

How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

The Pick Click Give program provides us with extra funds to help pay for veterinary bills, which can rise drastically depending upon the condition of the cat when they come in. Some cats come in that have been abandoned in the apartment the owner decides to leave and if the cat has a collar it is sometimes to tight and eventually will grow in to the skin and will need to be surgically removed. Some of the cats are also quite elderly and need extra care and we also have several that have diabetes so need insulin a couple times a day.
We also started a program called Sanctuary Cats, where we allow people to bring in their cats if they are suddenly financially or physically unable to take care of them. The only stipulation is that they keep in contact with us to keep us up to date on their situation other wise after a couple months they will be put up for adoption after unsuccessful attempts of trying to contact them.
We are run strickly by volunteers and some community service people that need to fulfill their community service requirements. Our volunteers are there every day to make sure the cats are taken care of and get the attention they need to get rehabilated so they will be better able to be adopted.
