How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Programs and activities for seniors are essential to our community to keep seniors healthy, engaged, and thriving. Pick.Click.Give offers Alaskans the opportunity to enhance the Anchorage Senior Activity Center’s ability to provide seniors with learning, fitness, recreation, socialization, entertainment, nutrition, and healthy living skills.
Anchorage Senior Activity Center members enjoy benefits such as billiards, crafts, computers, fitness instruction, and social events. The Center provides two Medicare counselors, a Benefits Enrollment Center, and many other services that benefit members and seniors in the local community. One of its newest programs offers fresh meals to approximately 150 seniors daily.
The Municipality of Anchorage owns the Anchorage Senior Activity Center building and land, but the non-profit Anchor-Age Center operates it. In addition to the building, the Municipality contributes approximately 1/3 of the funds needed to run the senior programs at the Center. Anchor-Age Center must raise the remaining 2/3rds or $1,000,000 plus each year. Anchor-Age Center is a member organization that charges its members dues. It also seeks grants from private and public sources. Anchor-Age Center has a small, paid staff and many volunteers. Volunteers contribute more than 50,000 person-hours per year to operate the Center.
