How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
By supporting Bike Anchorage, you are not only helping make Anchorage a more bicycle-friendly city, but you are helping make the roadways safer for everyone: cyclists, walkers, bus users, and motorists alike.
How do we make Anchorage a safer and more vibrant place to live? Bike Anchorage has three program areas to make Anchorage more bicycle-friendly: Encouragement to get you biking, education to help you make good choices while on your bike, and advocacy to make sure city planners support the safest designs for all users of the roads and pathways.
One of the most exciting things we are working on is the implementation of Vision Zero. This initiative seeks to ensure that not one person is killed or injured on Anchorages roadways. This huge goal is in partnership with the Municipality of Anchorage, social service agencies, health care officials, and transportation planners, and individuals like you. This initiative will be successful through using a coordinated approach by designing safer streets, educating people, evaluating lessons learned, and enforcing the best laws. Streets should be safe for everyone – people on foot, in cars, using public transit, and on bikes. Vision Zero puts the safety of human life above all else.
When you give to Bike Anchorage, you are helping create a vibrant, fun community to live, work, and play. We help organize many events throughout the year like Bike to Work Day, Winter Bike Fest, and Community Rides to show you the best and safest routes to take in the Anchorage Bowl. We strive to connect people who want, and need, to take alternative methods to go to school, work, or buy groceries. And there has been a shift in bicycle commuting in Anchorage. All of this work is done by volunteers like you, and on a very small budget. You have helped us grow into a powerful voice for the biking community and your continued support will make Anchorage an even greater city to live in.
