How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference

By giving to the Downtown Soup Kitchen Hope Center through Pick Click Give you are partnering with us in our mission to the homeless, hungry and poor and touching the lives of many.

Downtown Soup Kitchen-Hope Center provides the basic needs of the homeless and working poor in Anchorage. One of the many programs that we offer at our establishment is the Lunch Program. This program serves lunch to approximately 500 people a day, Monday - Friday. A meal consists of a hot cup of soup, sandwich, dessert and a beverage.
We also have the Shower House Program. This program provides showers, laundry and clothing as well as basic hygiene items. Serving approximately 66 people a day. In addition we house a clothing room to distribute essential clothing as needed.
We also host a Women's Shelter Program. Each night fifty (50) women are provided a healthy dinner prepared by our culinary students, and a warm, secure place to sleep. They have the opportunity to shower, have their laundry done and breakfast is offered every morning.
Downtown Hope Center has successfully established a Bakery Program. This program offers ten (10) women from the shelter the opportunity to develop skills and job training they need to effectively operate a full functioning bakery. They fill orders on a daily basis to local establishments as well as offer catering for special events.
Feed Me Hope Culinary School is a vocational training program, offered free-of-charge, by the Downtown Hope Center (DHC) to men and women in situations of homelessness, poverty, unemployment or re-entry. In this 14- week program students learn classic culinary and bakery techniques, obtain their food safety and sanitation cards, and are assisted in job placement. They also participate in a 'Life-Skills' course, where they learn adaptive and positive behavior to help them deal with the everyday challenges of a workplace environment.
In addition to meeting these basic needs, we seek to provide a shoulder to lean on, as well as a safe and loving environment. We are able to meet these needs through our generous donors and dedicated volunteers and staff.
