Fortress of the Bear

For the Protection of Alaska's Bears through the provision of educational experiences to all our visitors, while providing a safe haven for bears entrusted to our care, as we continue seeking out positive options for Alaska's orphaned cubs.

We are the only organization in Alaska whose goal is to rescue and place orphaned bear cubs. We receive no government or foundation funding. Our sole revenue is from visitors and donations. The costs associated with housing 8 bears and finding homes for orphans, like everything else, increases continuously. Keeping the bears engaged enriches their lives and the visitor experience. Educating the public on the bears of Alaska is a task we welcome. We learn from them and, in turn, they teach us. In order to continue our work, and hopefully begin a bear rehab and release program, we welcome this resource to help pay staff, utilities, vet bills and grow our facility.
