Ketchikan Humane Society is an all-volunteer organization that relies on foster homes and local donations to fulfill our mission. Our primary mission is to reduce local animal euthanasia rates, improve community education and to help abused and abandoned animals have a second chance to find a permanent loving home.
How Pick.Click.Give. makes a difference
Ketchikan Humane Society (KHS) was founded in 2001 by a group of dedicated locals who wanted to help deal with the chronic over-population of unwanted pets in our community. Since then KHS has rescued, recovered and re-homed approximately 2,000 animals! We have an amazing group of dedicated foster homes who provide love, understanding, and teaching our foster animals what a normal loving home life is like.
In 2020 we rescued 56 kittens, 6 dogs and 2 guinea pigs.
In 2020 we altered (Spayed/Neutered) 82 cats and dogs. This significantly helps reduce the numbers of unwanted litters of kittens and puppies.
In 2012, due to the large number of unwanted animals being euthanized in the community, KHS decided to expand its mission to include a Spay Neuter Incentive Program (SNIP) for dogs and cats. Pet owners receive financial assistance to have their dog or cat spayed or neutered with Ketchikan Humane Society and the local vet clinics paying the balance of the cost. In the first two months of 2017 we altered over 50 animals through this program! Since then we are altering an average of 100 per year with the help of your donations!!
Ketchikan has been incredibly generous to our organization. We thank you for your support and strive every day to meet and exceed your expectations for our organization. We could not do what we do without your compassionate and giving hearts. We are able to help because you believe in us.
