Opening in 1999, with the mission to collect, preserve, and share the rich cultural legacy of the Aleutian Islands Region, the Museum of the Aleutians curates an actively growing collection featuring artifacts from the entire extent of Aleutian history, including Unangax, Russian-American, WWII, local art, and more. The museum serves multicultural, multigenerational, and international audiences with high-quality, historically accurate, educationally effective, interpretive exhibits and collections. These collections are made available through exhibits, public outreach, educational programs, and research opportunities.
