Anchorage, January, 26, 2015 – Alaskans are setting a new record for participation in Pick.Click.Give. with 6% of those who have filed for the 2015 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) making donations. More than $1 million dollars has been pledged so far this year through the charitable giving program, which allows Alaska residents to donate $25 or more from their PFD to eligible nonprofit organizations.

“It’s exciting to see more Alaskans using Pick.Click.Give. as a safe, easy way to support the causes they care about,” said Heather Beaty, Pick.Click.Give. Program Manager. “These small donations really add up to make a big difference in our communities.”

As of 6 a.m. this morning, 11,508 of the Alaskans who have filed online for the 2015 PFD have pledged $1,071,725 through Pick.Click.Give. Should current trends continue, Pick.Click.Give. donations could total more than $3 million dollars this year for Alaskans’ favorite nonprofit causes. In 2014, 4.8% of Alaskans who filed online for the PFD pledged more than $2.8 million through Pick.Click.Give.

Organizers believe a couple of factors are encouraging more Alaskans to Pick.Click.Give. The amount of the PFD grew in 2014 to $1884, more than twice the amount of the previous year’s dividend. Also, the popular “Double Your Dividend” sweepstakes is offered again this year, where 10 Alaskans who Pick.Click.Give. will win a cash prize equal to the 2015 PFD.

“With another big PFD on the way and a chance to double your dividend, many Alaskans are finding there’s never been a better time to Pick.Click.Give.,” said Beaty. “Sharing a little of your PFD with a nonprofit doing good work in our state is a great way to show your love for Alaska.”

The PFD filing period is open through March 31. Alaskans who have already filed still have the opportunity to Pick.Click.Give. by revisiting the PFD website and logging into their application to add donations. This year, Alaskans who Pick.Click.Give. can choose from 540 eligible nonprofits in 51 communities.

Anchorage, December 31, 2014 – When Alaskans begin filing for their 2015 Permanent Fund dividends tomorrow, they will have the chance to share their PFDs with nonprofit organizations across Alaska. Last year, Pick.Click.Give. offered ten lucky Alaskans the opportunity to double their dividend and in October 2014, those 10 Alaskans received a second dividend totaling $1,884 – just by choosing to Pick.Click.Give.

“With the Double Your Dividend sweepstakes, it was exciting to see so many Alaskans make the choice to support Alaska nonprofit causes,” said PCG Program Manager Heather Beaty. “With the raise in participation we saw by offering the sweepstakes last year, we are excited to offer it again in 2015. We hope to continue to see Alaskans to be motivated to share a small part of their PFD with causes they care about.”

The Double Your Dividend Sweepstakes is a way to encourage Alaskans who may not have participated in the program before, to donate to nonprofits they care about in a convenient and safe way. PCG has completed research and found that 78 percent of Alaskans have knowledge of the program, but just under five percent of Alaskans donated in 2014.

Experts predict PFDs will increase slightly again this year and Alaskans have 540 Pick.Click.Give. nonprofits in 51 communities to which they can donate. Last year, a record 26,773 Alaskans donated $2.7 million from their PFDs. More than $10 million has been raised through the program since it began in 2009.

Alaskans have until March 31, 2015, to file for their PFDs.

Pick.Click.Give was created by the Alaska State Legislature in 2008 and allows Alaskans filing for their PFD online to donate all or part of it to the campuses of the University of Alaska, community foundations, and eligible charitable and educational organizations. After a three-year pilot project, Pick.Click.Give. is now a permanent part of the PFD program.

ANCHORAGE, April 2, 2014 – Alaskans set a record in 2014 for donations made to local nonprofits through Pick.Click.Give. More Alaskans than ever before participated in the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) charitable donation program, sharing millions of dollars with Alaska’s nonprofits.

According to the Alaska Department of Revenue, as of April 1, 26,773 Alaskans donated $2,771,400 from their PFDs, which is $325,950 or 13% more than last year. The average amount donated per person was also record-breaking, increasing by 11% from $94 in 2013 to $104 in 2014. Overall, 4.8% of Alaskans who filed online for the PFD made donations through Pick.Click.Give.

Three factors were likely the primary causes of the record-breaking year:

  • A larger dividend

    • Experts predict Alaskans will receive a much larger PFD this year, which likely inspired first-time donors and encouraged established donors to give more.
  • New advertising

    • Pick.Click.Give. launched a new marketing campaign titled “Lovalaska” that promoted the idea of Alaskans helping Alaskans during times of need.
  • “Double Your Dividend”

    • ExxonMobil and Rasmuson Foundation funded a sweepstakes that will award a cash prize in the amount of the 2014 dividend to 10 Alaskans who donated through Pick.Click.Give.

“The goal of the Pick.Click.Give. program is to help make charitable giving part of the Alaskan way of life,” said Pick.Click.Give. Program Manager Heather Beaty. “Alaskans proved once again that we are generous and we care about each other. We are proud to be part of a movement that has such positive impact on the lives of all Alaskans.”

Alaska’s Pick.Click.Give. program has been a singular success. Donations have increased every year:

  • In 2009, the program’s first year, 5,173 Alaskans donated $545,000
  • In 2010, 9,543 Alaskans donated $927,075
  • In 2011, 18,726 Alaskans donated $1,570,900
  • In 2012, 23,169 Alaskans donated $2,200,000
  • In 2013, 26,093 Alaskans donated $2,445,450
  • Total pledged since the program began: $10,459,825

512 organizations in 50 communities around the state were eligible to receive donations through Pick.Click.Give. The top five recipients were Bean’s Cafe with $143,225, Alaska Public Media with $125,525, Food Bank of Alaska with $98,275, Catholic Social Services with $78,075, and Abused Women’s Aid in Crisis (AWAIC) with $71,450. Lists of how much each organization received in pledges can be viewed sorted by total amount pledged, by zip code, or alphabetically.

ANCHORAGE, February 4, 2014 — Alaskans are sharing more of their PFDs than ever before with the average Pick.Click.Give. donation topping $100. That generosity has allowed Pick.Click.Give. donations to surpass $1 million. The Permanent Fund Dividend Division released a report showing that, as of midnight January 31, Alaskans pledged $1,042,650 to their favorite nonprofit organizations with the average donation at $103.

Nonprofits leading in Pick.Click.Give. donations so far:

  1. Bean’s Café – $61,475
  2. AK Public Media – $40,950
  3. Food Bank of Alaska – $33,925
  4. AWAIC shelter – $28,525
  5. Catholic Social Services – $28,025

Experts predict much larger PFDs this year and Pick.Click.Give. organizers hope more Alaskans will share some of the wealth with the 512 nonprofits on the list. Alaskans who already filed for their PFD but didn’t Pick.Click.Give. can still go back and add a donation by visiting the PFD website and logging back into their application.

Last year, more than 26,000 Alaskans donated $2.4 million of their PFDs to Pick.Click.Give. For more information and a complete list of nonprofits on this year’s list, visit www.PickClickGive.org
